The long-awaited PADFA II financing agreement between IFAD and the Government of Cameroon was finally signed on September 24, 2020 in MINEPAT’s very own amphitheater 300. The ceremony, marked by a real solemnity although it was conducted for the most part through video conference, saw the participation of local stakeholders: among others, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and his Secretary of State, that of the Economy, Planning and Territorial Development, the Country Program Officer of IFAD, etc…

As for IFAD, it was very present, in particular through its President Gilbert F. Houngbo.

In the actual course of the ceremony, it is moreover the latter who, from Rome in Italy, had the honor to situate the importance of the event by recalling how unprecedented it was for Cameroon to opt for the renewal of an IFAD Project and saw it as a sign of the interest that the Fund has for its effective and efficient implementation, through the loan agreement that was to be signed.

MINEPAT Alamine Ousmane Mey, signatory for the Cameroonian side, continued by highlighting the challenges of PADFA II for Cameroon and thanking IFAD for its renewed concern for our country.

The signing of the financing agreement document itself took place simultaneously, in Rome and Yaoundé.

Following the ceremony, the MINEPAT gave an important press interview, which sums up the ins and outs of the deal.
